PHOTOGRAPH - I took this photograph at a Edenbridge classic car event September 2019 - I digitally altered the colour to provide another option.
HISTORY - The Lotus Elan was produced from 1962-1973 and embodied Colin Chapman's philosophy of light weight body, independent suspension giving a superb power to weight ratio resulting in superb performance, 0-60mph of 6.6seconds. Initially it was introduced with a 1500cc engine but that was replaced with a 1600cc. This model, the Sprint was the last model before the production ended and paid homage to the John Player Special gold livery that were the sponsors of Lotus's formula one team.
